Prof. Dr. Tevfik Ecder graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul University in 1987. He completed his training in internal medicine and nephrology at the same institution; and he has served in this faculty between 1996 and 2014.

His professional experience/positions include international scholar in Nephrology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, in 1995; research fellow in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver, Colorado, USA (1998 – 2000); as well as fellow of the International Society of Nephrology (1998 – 2000).

Professor Ecder is a member of the Turkish Society of Nephrology, the European Dialysis and Transplant Association, the International Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Nephrology. He is the vice president of the Turkish Society of Hypertension and Atherosclerosis. He is also head of the Turkish Society of Nephrology Polycystic Kidney Disease Working Group. He is also representative of the Turkish Society of Nephrology in Union European Medical Specialisation – UEMS Nephrology Section.

He has over 70 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited as a lecturer in numerous international and national meetings. He was also the recipient of the Research Award of Istanbul University Research Fund in 1995, 2001 and 2008, and has received the International Society of Nephrology Fellowship Training Award (1998 – 2000).
