Pes Planus (Flatfoot)

Physiological Pes Planus

It is also referred to as flatfoot or fallen arches. Parents usually become worried when their child takes the first steps. Orthoses and arch supports won’t be of any help in children with flatfeet, infact they would shake their self-confidence. It is important that the doctor differentiates a painful and pathological foot. Only a limited number of patients require a surgery.

Pathological Pes Planus

It occurs with cerebral palsy, muscular and nerve diseases or congenital bone anomalies. Such patients often require a surgery.
