Cerebral palsy is caused by inadequate oxygenation, resulting in damage to the brain. This may occur during pregnancy as well as various causes resulted during or after the birth. The event is not progressive in the brain. However, involuntary contraction of muscles results in deformation of bones and joints in time. This may produce difficulty for a child to meet his/her basic needs. Collaboration of physical therapy and orthopedic play an important role in the treatment.
