Cadaveric kidney transplantation
Cadaveric kidney transplant; is the transplantation of kidney from an individual whose cerebral blood flow has been completely interrupted and who has an irreversible brain damage due to a previous accident or illness (that is, those who are considered to be clinically dead) to a renal patient who needs it.
Removal of the kidney (or other organs) from the cadaver requires some special procedures:
Care should be taken to ensure that blood circulation is not impaired in order not to damage all the organs of the cadaveric kidney donor. For that purpose, maintenance of the respiratory function and blood circulation to organs are provided with the support of intensive care and respiratory equipment . Then the kidneys are removed and stored in a cold environment. The kidneys should be transplanted to the recipient within 24 hours after removal.
