Endogast is an intragastric adjustable balloon. It is placed using endoscopic procedure without surgery. It only weighs 7 grams and it is adjustable. It gives a feeling of satiety and fullness. Approximately 20 patients underwent Endogast procedure in our clinic up to date. We have the most experienced team in Turkey in this procedure, who applied it both in our clinic and other cities. We already presented results of our Endogast patients during the 14th World Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (26-29 August 2009, Paris, France). Our team gave a training on Endogast to many surgeons from several provinces of our country as well as a group of surgeons who came from Iran between March 4 and 5, 2010, accompanied with signed certificates.
The Endogast balloon can be adjusted by a subcutaneously implantable port, which can be inserted very deeply so that it is not seen from outside. It is the same port used during the stomach stapling procedures.
Endogast procedure is performed in the operating room under general anaesthesia in order to eliminate potential pain and other complications while patient swallow the balloon and the port is inserted.
Special mouthwashes are used for oral hygene before the procedure as well as administration of antibiotics with a great emphasis on sterility.
