The Group Florence Nightingale Diabetes & Obesity Center of Excellence has become the leading such center in the region through developing a real understanding of the causes and consequences of obesity, diabetes and related disorders. Its team of renowned scientists also seeks to identify new approaches to the treatment and prevention of these important health problems. The Center works to translate laboratory discoveries to real life applications.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, we investigate metabolism, eating behavior and nutrition, physical activity, fat distribution, and weight gain trajectories, testing translational research concepts spanning basic science, epidemiologic, and intervention studies. We also provide technical expertise in the measurements of dietary intake, eating behaviors, and multiple dimensions of stress (environmental, socioeconomic, psychosocial, and physiological).
